WHOLE WHEAT NO KNEAD BREAD RECIPE
BAKING THE BREAD
This bread is baked with an extra baking tin filled with hot water in the oven. This water creates a steam effect in the oven which helps to cook the bread similarly to professional bakers ovens that have a steam effect. Even if this recipe yields a mini loaf, you will get several portions out of it as the bread is dense and a slice or 2 will easily make a serving.
RECIPE
YIELDS – 1 MINI LOAF
BAKING INGREDIENTS
3 Cups Four Seasons Foods Whole Wheat Flour
2 Teaspoons Instant Yeast
2 Cups hot water (hot enough that you can put your hand in without burning)
1 Teaspoon Salt
3 Teaspoons Sugar
EXTRA INGREDIENTS
3 Tablespoon Four Seasons Flour set aside for dusting
Cooking Oil /Margarine / Butter for greasing bread baking tin
EQUIPMENT
1 Mini loaf baking tin ( you can also use round shaped baking tin )
1 extra baking tin with water to create steam effect in the oven.
DIRECTIONS
1 – Combine all the baking ingredients in a bowl and mix well to a smooth dough. Cover with cling film or a tea towel.
2 – Place in a warm place and leave for about 2 hours until it rises to double its original amount. Do not place in direct sunlight as this might be too hot for the yeast.
3 – When the dough has risen and is ready for baking, preheat the oven at 180 degrees celsius and place the baking tin with hot steaming water in the oven.
4 – Grease the baking tin ready to place bread in and grease your hands as well so the dough does not stick to your hands.
5 – Pour dusting flour on to the surface and scrape the dough on to the surface from the bowl. The dough will be sticky and jelly-like to handle.
6 – Fold the dough in from all around the edges towards the middle part of it, to make a round shape. You can use a knife, hands or dough scraper. This will work to form a round shape as well as deflate the dough.
6 – Pick the dough and place in the greased pan, with the side which was at the top, at the bottom of the pan.
7 – Bake in a preheated oven, in the middle rack of the oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
8 – When the bread is baked take it off the oven and off the baking tin to cool on a rack ready to enjoy. You can eat it still hot or wait for it to cool down.
Store the bread overnight in the bread bin or slice it and freeze it to make toast when you need it.
